Every login, app and inbox in a school carries a promise to students and families. To start the 2026–27 school year, the Digital Trust Hub gave members the Creating Digital Trust Toolkit. It helps school employees understand how their everyday technology choices build trust with students, families and colleagues.
The toolkit focuses on practical habits: protecting information, using district-approved tools, communicating responsibly, recognizing security concerns and asking questions when unsure. It’s designed for new-hire orientation, teacher induction, back-to-school professional development, staff meetings or any point in the year. Members received:
- A Building Digital Trust presentation with practical examples involving student information, file sharing, approved applications, artificial intelligence, account security, photos, social media and incident reporting
- Ten discussion scenarios for staff conversations, covering topics such as approved apps and storage, AI tools, least privilege, verifying identities, projecting screens, sharing images and reporting mistakes
- Three editable flyers, including a quick-reference list and a staff action checklist
- A sample email for sharing the resources with staff
Every piece is built to be customized with a district’s own terminology, procedures and contacts. The toolkit’s central message: employees don’t need to be technology experts to build digital trust. Thoughtful choices make a meaningful difference.
