Purpose
Allegheny Intermediate Unit (“AIU,” “we,” “us” and “our”) operates www.padigitaltrusthub.net (the “Site”) to share information about the Pennsylvania Digital Trust Hub, a program of AIU, and to let schools and organizations contact us about membership and services.
We respect your right to privacy and will protect the information we receive through the Site in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and standards for security and privacy. This policy describes what information the Site collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the end shows the latest revision.
Information you give us
The Site collects personal information only when you choose to send it to us through the contact form on the Join the Hub page. The form asks for:
- Your first and last name and work email address
- Your organization, its type and its county
- Your role
- Anything you choose to write in the message field
You don’t have to use the form. You can browse the Site without giving us any personal information, or email us at DTHinfo@aiu3.net instead.
Please don’t include student information or other sensitive personal information in the message field. The form is intended for inquiries from school and organization staff.
How we use it
We use the information you submit only to:
- Respond to your inquiry and follow up about the Pennsylvania Digital Trust Hub, including membership, information sessions, trainings and related AIU services you ask about
- Keep a record of our communication with you and your organization
- Understand, in aggregate, which schools and regions are interested in the Hub, so we can plan services
Form submissions are stored in AIU’s customer relationship management system (Salesforce), which AIU uses to manage its relationships with schools and partner organizations.
We don’t sell, rent or trade your information, and we don’t share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Who can see it
Information you submit is available only to AIU employees, contractors and service providers with a need to know it to respond to you or operate the Hub, and to government agencies when the law requires it. Our service providers are required to protect it under the same or stronger privacy and security standards.
Spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA)
The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to tell people from automated spam. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information, such as device and browser data, and sends it to Google for analysis. Google’s use of that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. reCAPTCHA loads only on the Join the Hub page.
Site analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog, a web analytics service, to understand how the Site is used, such as which pages people visit, how they arrived and which links they follow, so we can improve it. We have set it up to collect as little as possible:
- Visitors are anonymous. PostHog assigns your browser a random identifier; we don’t link it to your name, email or organization, including when you submit the contact form.
- PostHog is set to discard your IP address, so it isn’t stored with the analytics data.
- We record page views, clicks on links and buttons, and a few named actions, such as registering for an information session or submitting the contact form. We never record what you type into the form.
- We don’t record your screen or sessions, and we don’t use PostHog for advertising.
- If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, PostHog doesn’t collect anything.
PostHog stores this data in the United States. Its handling of the data is governed by the PostHog privacy policy.
Cookies and tracking
- PostHog sets a first-party cookie that holds the random identifier described above, so repeat visits count once.
- The Site does not use advertising trackers and doesn’t share browsing data with advertisers.
- On the Join the Hub page, Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies as described above.
- One news article embeds a video through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube may collect information once you choose to play the video, under Google’s privacy policy.
- The share buttons on news articles are ordinary links. Nothing is sent to LinkedIn, Facebook or X unless you click one.
- Like any website, our hosting provider may record standard technical information, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver and secure the Site.
You can refuse or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings, or turn on Do Not Track to stop analytics. The Site works without cookies, although the contact form needs reCAPTCHA to submit.
Links to other websites
The Site links to websites maintained by other organizations, such as event registration pages on Microsoft Teams, partner organizations and news sources. When you follow one of those links you leave the Site and are subject to that website’s privacy and security policies. We don’t control or guarantee the content of outside websites, and linking to them doesn’t mean we endorse their organizations, views, products or services.
Security
We protect the information we collect with reasonable operational, administrative, technical and physical safeguards to maintain its confidentiality, integrity and availability and to prevent unauthorized access, use or disclosure. The Site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to form submissions is limited to authorized AIU staff. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take commercially reasonable steps to protect your information, and we monitor, assess and update our security controls to keep them effective.
Your choices
You can ask us to review, correct or delete the information you submitted, or to stop contacting you, by emailing DTHinfo@aiu3.net. Some records may need to be kept to meet AIU’s legal and record-retention obligations as a public agency.
